Moxi Laser: Pre And Post Treatment Instructions

The Moxi laser by Sciton, offered at Seaport Medspa, delivers remarkable results with minimal discomfort and downtime. Unlike traditional cosmetic lasers, Moxi offers a gentler approach to skin rejuvenation. This makes it suitable for a broader range of skin types and tones.

Patients can expect a comfortable treatment experience with minimal pain. Moxi's unique cooling system keeps the skin cool and comfortable throughout the procedure, reducing the need for numbing creams. This makes it an attractive option for those who want to refresh their appearance without the inconvenience of a lengthy recovery period.

Prior to receiving this treatment it’s important to review and follow the below pre and post treatment instructions to receive the best results.

Moxi Laser Pre-Care

Avoid Sun exposure 14-days prior to treatment

Avoid sun exposure (including tanning beds) for at least 14-days prior to treatment. Avoid sunless tanning creams or sprays on the treated area for 14-days prior.

No waxing or depilatory creams 14-days prior to treatment

Do not wax or use depilatory creams on the treatment areas for 14-days prior to treatment.

Avoid These Products 7-days* Prior To treatment

Avoid Aspirin, Motrin, Ibuprofen, Fish Oils, Vitamin E, and other blood thinners 7-days before your treatment. If you are on a prescribed blood thinner, please contact our office to speak with a provider.

Avoid These Products 4-Days* Prior to Treatment

Please discontinue any products containing active ingredients 4-days prior to treatment, such as: Retinol (Retin-A, Tretinoin, Vitamin A), Glycolic Acid, Salicylic Acid, AHAs (Alpha-hydroxy acids), LHAs (Lipo hydroxy acids) and Benzoyl Peroxide. Avoid hydroquinone for 4-days before your treatment. If you have any questions about your current skin care products, please call our office.

History of Cold Sores?

It is recommended that all patients having resurfacing treatments done around the mouth have an oral antiviral agent to prevent any cold sore virus getting into the treated areas. If you have a history of cold sores please let our providers know so that we can provide you with a prescription medication to take beforehand.

Using Antibiotics?

If you have recently been ill or had a fever, it is generally best to postpone your procedure. If you are currently being treated for an infection with antibiotics you also may be asked to reschedule your appointment. Please call our office to discuss.

Clean Skin Day of Treatment

Please show up to your treatment appointment with no makeup on and a clean face.

Moxi Laser Post-Care

CLEANSING

Cleanse the skin two times a day with plain, lukewarm water and a gentle cleanser, beginning the morning after the treatment. Use your hands and gentle patting motions. DO NOT rub, scrub, use an exfoliant or skin care brush such as a Clarisonic or Lumi on the treated area.

MOISTURIZER

A mild moisturizer or hyaluronic acid should be applied generously with clean hands over the treated area and reapplied whenever your skin feels dry. DO NOT apply any other products that were not instructed by your provider – eg. essential oils, coconut oil, etc. Also refrain from using your products with active ingredients during the healing phase (7 days after).

SUNSCREEN

Sunscreen is a MUST and should be used daily beginning the day after treatment and used consistently post procedure.

Post-Treatment Discomfort

For general post-treatment discomfort, an over the counter oral pain reliever (i.e. Extra Strength Tylenol) might be prescribed by your doctor. If an anti-viral was prescribed, continue to take as directed. Avoid scratching and itching, as scarring and pigmentation complications can occur. Itching can be relieved by oral Benadryl, but can cause drowsiness.
