Lumecca IPL (Intense Pulsed Light), by InMode offered at Seaport Medspa is a non-invasive cosmetic procedure used to improve the appearance of the skin. It utilizes high-intensity pulses of broad-spectrum light to target various skin concerns, such as sun damage, pigmentation irregularities, vascular lesions, and signs of aging.
During a Lumecca IPL treatment, a handheld device is used to deliver precise bursts of light energy to the targeted areas of the skin. The light energy is absorbed by specific chromophores in the skin, such as melanin (responsible for pigmentation) or hemoglobin (found in blood vessels), depending on the intended treatment.
The absorbed light energy converts into heat, which damages the targeted cells or structures. For instance, in the case of pigmentation issues like sunspots or freckles, the heat breaks down the excess melanin, leading to its gradual clearance. When treating vascular lesions like spider veins or rosacea, the heat causes coagulation of the blood vessels, eventually resulting in their collapse and disappearance.

Lumecca IPL Pre Care
Avoid Sunburns And Tans 14-Days Prior
Avoid sunburns and tans 14-days prior to treatment. Patients should try to use sunscreen when outdoors during daylight hours.
Avoid UV Exposure 7-Days Prior
Lumecca IPL patients should avoid UV exposure 7-days prior to their treatment.
Avoid Sunless Tanning 7-Days Prior
Avoid sunless tanning products 7-days prior to treatment. Exfoliate off any residual product in treatment area before treatment.
Avoid Irritant Topical Agents 3-Days Prior
Discontinue any irritant topical agents for 3-days prior to treatment. This includes retinols and acids (AHAs/BHAs).
Clean Skin Day Of Treatment
Arrive for treatment with clean skin. There should be no lotions, make-up, perfumes, or powders, bath/shower oil present on the skin in the area to be treated.
Lumecca IPL Post Care
Cold Compress Or Aloe Vera for comfort
Apply cold compresses or aloe vera as needed for post treatment comfort.
Do Not Pick Skin
Areas treated may appear darker in the days following treatment. Do not pick any of them. The pigment will come off on its own.
Use Sunblock for 3-Weeks
Sunblock should be used for 3-weeks following the treatment.
Moisturizer and Makeup
Patients may use moisturizer and makeup immediately after Lumecca IPL treatment if skin is intact.
